So very recently I’ve become fortunate enough to become part of a new “movement”, or collective if you will, here in Brisbane by the simple name of Waves.
The basic idea of it is simple: to create a unique night held once a month here in Brisbane (at The Bowler Bar), that will be host to a plethora of previously unheard or unknown sounds, and to be host to sounds that would otherwise never reach club speakers, like tightly mixed soundscapes that feature artists such as Flying Lotus, Flume, Toro Y Moi, Shlohmo, J Dilla, Nujabes, MF Doom, RJD2, Hudson Mohawke and many, many more.
As part of the hype and promo for the launch night (which was on the 22nd of March), all of the Waves residents (myself included) recorded a few tight and clean mini mixes to be released as teasers for what was to be expected on the night itself, and put them up on the Waves Soundcloud.
All in all it was an excellent night and only good things can come from this as far as I’m concerned!
